20.01.2012- Hollywood comes to the V&A

Friday, 20 January 2012

2012 is shaping up to be a great year for exhibitions, particularly at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Next month sees the opening of a showcase of Cecil Beaton's portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, and in May the newly renovated fashion galleries will play host to Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950. Most exciting of all, however, is the headline exhibition which will be arriving at the museum in October, simply titled Hollywood Costume. Focusing on the process of designing a character, the role of the costume designer and showcasing some of the most iconic costumes ever to appear on the silver screen, the exhibition looks set to be unmissable. Featuring pieces which have never before been seen outside of their studio archives in California, including designs from Marie Antoinette, Breakfast at Tiffanys and Some Like it Hot, I'm sure Hollywood Costume will prove a must-visit for fashion and films fans alike.

Will you be going to this exhibition?
