13.03.2012- Red Sole Retrospective

Tuesday, 13 March 2012

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in possession of any small fortune will wholeheartedly devote herself to shoe shopping (to badly paraphrase Jane Austen!) Seriously though, we all know that shopping for a new pair of shoes is one of the most addictive spending pursuits out there, whether you're after some classic ballet pumps or towering skyscraper heels. This thoroughly modern obsession can, in my opinion, be traced back to two people- a certain Carrie Bradshaw (aka she of the million dollar wardrobe) and Christian Louboutin- the designer who has seen his red soled creations conquer equally vibrant red carpets the world over, and who has elevated the luxury shoe to its now iconic status. If you're a fan of Mr Louboutin but can't (yet!) afford his creations, then you're in luck- from May 7th to July 9th, London's Design Museum will play host to a groundbreaking retrospective of his work, the first of its kind to be held in the UK. Engineered as a celebration of his career, the exhibition will showcase Louboutin's design process and inspiration, as well as focusing on the imagination and creativity which has cemented his eponymous brand as one of the most successful in the world. It sounds unmissable!

To find out more about the exhibition and to book tickets, visit the Design Museum website.

Will you be visiting the Christian Louboutin exhibition?
