23.01.2013- Next SS13

Wednesday, 23 January 2013

If there's one this which the snowy weather which we've seen over the last week or so has confirmed, it's that spring can't come quickly enough. Whilst the ice starts slowly starts to thaw, I'm definitely anticipating the arrival of warmer weather, longer evenings and the opportunity to pick up some new season pieces as they start to arrive in the shops. With this in mind, now seems like the perfect moment to take a look back to the Next SS13 Press Day, which I was lucky enough to attend at the end of last year. Held at the beautiful One Marylebone, the event showcased the amazing array of new season pieces which will be arriving in stores soon:

The mainline fashion collection was really trend focused, with a palpable touch of catwalk inspiration. My favourite line, Poetic, encompassed a romantic colour palette (think pretty peaches, blush pinks and neutral accents) and beautifully delicate details. Bold prints, geometric lines and pops of neon throughout all lent a really fresh, vibrant feel to the SS13 collection as whole, and the standout printed trouser suit is something which I'm already looking forward to snapping up when it arrives in the shops!

The high fashion feel carried through to SS13's range of shoes and accessories, with bright colours and vivid prints juxtaposed with trend inspired monochrome pieces. Large tote bags were a key feature throughout, with boxy shapes offering plenty of practicality. Neutral tones also continued into footwear, contrasted with antique inspired floral prints or hard-wearing buckle details. I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled for the oversized black tote bag- a real classic which is perfect for everyday use.

Finally, the homeware collection once again offered some stunning statment products. Taking inspiration from Scandinavian design, the Good Life range encompassed sunshine yellows, bold ochres and fresh green accents- perfect for injecting a splash of warmth into your home as the spring arrives. The Blossom and Bloom collection was another favourite of mine, featuring a beautiful series of watercolour effect designs across bedding, wallpaper and cushions. Pastel shades and whimsical ornaments also added a really pretty feel to Next's SS13 homeware as a whole, and I'm already trying to find space for the super covetable kitchen accessories!

What do you think of Next SS13? Is there anything which catches your eye?
