For me, the shift in seasons is a perfect reason (or, indeed, excuse!) to snap up some new beauty purchases. With the festive season just peeking over the horizon, the shops are choc-full of limited edition goodies- and I'm sure I'm not the only one eagerly drawing up a shopping list in anticipation of the sell-out stampede which the coming weeks will almost inevitably bring. Also, with the darker evenings and chillier weather now enveloping us, my bathroom is rapidly becoming a pampering paradise- and I'm making a concerted effort to treat myself to some winter beauty wonders to combat the seasonal blues. Needless to say, I've already drawn up quite the list:
Essie All I Want for Christmas Gift Box, £24.99, Boots/This Works Perchance to Dream Set, £65, Space NK/Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit, £65, Space NK/Seaweed and Arnica Foaming Bath, £15.50, Neal's Yard/GLOSSYBOX for Nars Box, £30, GLOSSYBOX/Oils of Life Reviving Facial Oil, £28, The Body Shop/L'Oréal Paris Exclusive Pinks Collection Color Riche Lipstick in Blake Pink, £6.99, Boots/Stila Foil Finish Eyeshadow in Metallic Kitten, £33.50, Marks and Spencer/Paul & Joe Cat Print Pouch with Lip Treatment & Skincare Sachet, £11.50, ASOS
Essie always come up trumps with their festive selections, and this gorgeous gift set is no exception. As well as some cooler winter shades, they've thrown in some Christmas-ready reds- and it's a great value purchase in the making too. Definitely one to flag for the attention of Father Christmas, don't you think? In an attempt to stave off the hibernation mode which usually hits me as soon as the clocks go back, I've been trying to get some earlier nights- and so far it's a strategy which seems to be paying dividends. However, we can all do with a little helping hand to drift off every now and again- so step forward This Works with their amazingly monikered Perchance to Dream set, packed full of goodies from their Deep Sleep range. I'm a huge fan of their pillow spray, so will be eagerly tracking this one down to give the rest of the products a whirl!
I've also hit that dreaded point where lots of my favourite products all start running out at the same time, including my highlighter and bronzer. It's not all doom and gloom though, as it gives me the perfect chance to try out some alternatives, and I've got my beady eye firmly fixed on this Hourglass Palette. Promising an ambient lighting effect, it couldn't be more perfect for this time of the year. With indulgence on the brain, I'm also investing an evening or two a week in treating myself to a bath rather than my usual speedy shower, as it's a brilliant way to relax. At the moment I'm shopping around for bubble baths, and this Seaweed and Arnica offering from Neal's Yard caught my eye thanks to the promise of muscle relaxants and detoxing properties- in fact, as I type this I'm adding it to my lunchtime shopping list!
If you're already in the midst of present planning, then you'd be really hard pushed to go wrong with this limited edition GLOSSYBOX for Nars collaboration, available online from 16th November. Whether you're a lifelong Nars devotee or are shopping for someone who has never tried their products before, this selection ticks every box you could want- a great combination of classic favourites and newer additions to the core range. Thinking of skincare once again, the Oils of Life range from The Body Shop has been on my 'to try' list since it launched. With the promise of renewal and protection from all of the nasties which winter brings with it, I'm definitely going to be giving it a go as the temperatures drop over the coming weeks.
Whilst autumn often brings with it a flurry of berry lip shades shooting to the top of the beauty radar, sometimes it's nice to switch it up a little bit and experiment with some alternatives. After raving about L'Oréal's Colour Riche lipsticks at the start of the year, I'm now well and truly smitten with the new colours which they have on offer, including bounty of beautiful pinks which offer a lovely delicate departure from darker hues...(and they're currently on 3 for 2 in Booots..!) Stila's selection of products are never far from my wishlist, and this festive season I'm resolved to finally give their foil finish eyeshaodows a try, especially as they seem to have brilliant staying power and come in a gorgeous selection of shades- it will probably come as no surprise that Kitten is going to be my first port of call. Speaking of which, how adorable is this Paul & Joe cat print pouch? It's already put a smile on my face and I've only seen a picture of it so far!
Have you drawn up your winter beauty wishlist yet?
