It's always lovely to have the opportunity to try a new foodie haunt, and even nicer when you finally get around to visiting a dining destination which has been on your radar for ages. A few weeks ago, with overlapping days off of work, Hannah and I treated ourselves to a lunchtime visit to Oldroyd, somewhere I'd been meaning to visit since it opened last year. As a huge fan of (and regular visitor to) Polpo, I was really excited to sample some more of Tom Oldroyd's incredible creations- and I definitely wasn't disappointed:
With the seasonal set lunch coming it at an amazingly affordable £15 for two courses, we opted to share a starter and dessert, as well as selecting two hearty mains. To start, we chose the duck and cherry salad served with land cress and beans- served cold and absolutely delicious with perfectly balanced flavours (and a dish I've been craving every day since!) I then opted for the sardine linguine with tomatoes, pine nuts and a parsley crumb which was another instant hit, especially as the pasta was spot on and all of the ingredients sat really well together on the plate. Finally, we shared a divine yoghurt panna cotta with gooseberries- a delightfully refreshing end to the meal- and a great summer option too. With a menu which changes every day, I can certainly see myself making more than a few return visits in the not too distant future!
