As much as I love the city, there's no doubt that I'm far more of a country bumpkin at heart. Travelling into central London during the week isn't always the most hassle free of exercises (and if you follow me on Twitter you'll be well aware of how Southern Rail are responsible for the majority of the stress in my life!), so at the weekend it's always great to be able to switch of and enjoy some peace and quiet- avoiding unreliable trains for a solid stretch of 48 hours- bliss! The weekend before last (on a gloriously sunny Saturday afternoon!), I paid a long overdue visit to a destination which is about as far away from the hustle and bustle of city life as you can get- the beautiful Mayfield Lavender Farm:
Nestled away in rural Surrey, Mayfield Lavender is a must-visit during the summer, whether you're a keen gardener, green-fingered novice in waiting or are just looking for an opportunity to capture some stunning images on camera. As you might expect, it's an aromatic adventure too, with the scent of organically grown lavender rolling across the twenty five acres- providing an even more relaxing alternative to the chaos of the city. There's a shop on site too, so plenty of opportunities to pick up your own plants- as well as soaps, lavender lemonade (amazing, I know!) and all sorts of home baked treats. As far as picturesque plans go, you'd be hard pushed to beat this- but remember the lavender is only in bloom during July and August!
