28.05.2018- Most Wanted: Midi Dresses

Monday, 28 May 2018

Phew! What a warm long weekend we're having! Having good weather over the course of a Bank Holiday is usually so rare that I feel dreadful about complaining about it, but as I type this I'm frantically checking the weather forecast to see how soon this clammy spell will conclude- even if it's just for the sake of some fresh air! Muggy weather aside, and with the end of the month in sight, I think it's safe to say that we're now well and truly on the home straight towards summer. And, if you're looking for a seasonal style spruce up, or are shopping around for a special occasion, you'd be hard pushed to go wrong with that most faithful of high summer heroes- the midi dress:

Colour Block Floral Wrap Print Midi Dress, £45, Marks and Spencer/Climbing Bamboo Midi Dress, £46, Warehouse/Vichy Check Dress, £49.99, Mango/Studio by Preen Bright Blue Silk Shirt Dress, £200, Debenhams/Tropical Print Dress, £29.99, Mango

What a crop of beauties! This little selection is a combination of pieces which I've spotted both in-store and online, kicking off with this contrasting print midi dress from Marks and Spencer, which definitely feels a lot more luxe than the £45 price tag. With the adjustable belt detail adding as much or as little definition as you'd like in terms of shape, and the colour combination capturing one of the key trends of the season, it's a piece well and truly worth snapping up. Another perfect print comes courtesy of this Warehouse bamboo design, which I think works as wonderfully for the office as it does for weekends. Next up, this classic dress from Mango- a perennial summer staple if ever I saw one, which would lend itself to so many different occasions as well as being one of those holiday heroes to stash in your suitcase too.

If you've got a brimming with events this summer and are in the market for some new occasionwear, I'd really recommend shopping the Studio by Preen range at Debenhams as it's absolutely choc full of beautiful dresses. This bright silk shirt style is a real standout, and again another investment which I don't think you'd ever get tired of wearing. Finally, a piece which has rocketed straight to the top of my shopping list- this tropical motif frock from Mango. It goes without saying that I absolutely love the print, and the relaxed shape is a real winner too- I'm sure it won't be long before I snap it up!

Which pieces are on your summer shopping list?
